2. Shops (Interfaces to the affiliate networks)

From the Affiliate-Toolkit all API accesses (e.g. on Amazon) via the shops are managed as well. Access keys, tracking IDs, and other important API specific data is therefore stored within the shop.

Creating a shop

So, if you would like to import products, you first need to create a shop. As soon as the plugin has been activated, you can find the “Affiliate Toolkit” entry on the left side in the WP-menu. There you need to click on shops and then on “create”.

After your shop has been saved and everything is going fine, your status should change to “connected”. In case this didn’t happen, normally something is wrong with your access information and you should have a closer look at the error message. In case you can’t find any additional information, please either stop by at our Facebook group or contact support.

You can create a shop for tracking ID “A” and you can create a shop for tracking ID “B”. Depending on which shop you choose for the corresponding product, a different tracking ID may be used. You can also change the shop of a product at any time.

Attention: Every product is connected to a shop. If you delete a shop and one of the products is still associated with this shop, an error message saying, “Shop not found” will be sent to the frontend and sometimes even to the backend. So before you delete your shop, please make sure it isn’t used anymore.

Shop setting

After your shop has been set up, you should see the following layout (the dashed line represents shop specific information)

  1. Title
This is the description that will be displayed in the frontend. The proxy %shoptitle% uses this description.
  2. Shop Logo (small)
This small logo can be changed here. The corresponding proxy is currently not available.
  3. Shop Logo (big)
The big shop logo can be changed here. The proxy is %shoplogo% or %shoplogourl%.
  4. User defined field 1
A user defined filed. This can be used at your own discretion and is provided with the proxy %shopcustomfield1%.
  5. User defined field 2
A user defined filed. This can be used at your own discretion and is provided with the proxy %shopcustomfield2%.
  6. User defined field 3
A user defined filed. This can be used at your own discretion and is provided with the proxy %shopcustomfield3%.
  7. Show shop logo
This field shows you if the shop logo should be shown in the front end using standard templates. In case this field has not been activated, the corresponding proxy %shoplogo% remains empty.
  8. Automatically search for offers in this shop (via EAN)
With this click the automatic price comparison search for this shop will be activated. The search is conducted using EAN.
  9. Keep shop on top during price comparison
This click determines e.g. that the Shop Amazon is always displayed on the very top of the page. This setting only works for one shop. As soon two shops have received a click for this option, only the first one will stay on top of the page.
  10. Tooltip
This text will be displayed whenever you keep the mouse for a prolonged period of time on one affiliate link.
  11.  “Buy at” text
This text will be displayed when you generate a product link.
  12. “Put in shopping cart” text
This is the button text for your shopping cart (only available at Amazon)
  13. Currency symbol
Here you can either use the standard format or save your own format (also e.g. if the currency symbol should be put before or behind the numbers). In case this value is set to “Standard” the format from the product will be used. With the help of other selecting values this value will be formatted again when displaying.
